Hon'ble Minister for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Presents SCOPE Meritorious Awards

Shri Sontosh Mohan Dev, Hon'ble Minister for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises presented SCOPE Meritorious Awards in Specialized Fields on 5th September 2007 at SCOPE Convention Centre when the Minister also inaugurated the 3rd Directors Certification Programme on Corporate Governance. Presenting the SCOPE Awards and inaugurating the 3rd Directors Certification Programme on Corporate Governance, Shri Sontosh Mohan Dev said events of this nature reflect the efforts of CPSEs towards achieving excellence and their contribution to best business practices in the country. These Awards recognise the significant achievements of CPSEs in overall bus ines s per formance in the irrespective fields. Congratulating the winners of the Awards, Shri Dev said this recognition will spur them t o contribute significantly and achieve even greater heights in future. He also complimented SCOPE for its efforts in motivating CPSEs in this direction. Earlier, the Panel of Judges under the chairmanship of Justice P.N. Bhagwat with Dr. Abid Hussain, Dr. M.B. Athreya, Mr. C.P. Jain, Mr. M.A. Pathan, Dr. C.S. Venkata Ratnam as Members and Prof. S.A. Khader, Prof. J. Behari, and Mr. N.K. Sharma as experts met and unanimously decided the awards. International Management Institute (IMI) was the evaluating agency which assisted the Panel of Judges in deciding the awards. IMI's representatives responsible for evaluating the entries were also included in the Panel. SCOPE instituted SCOPE Meritorious Awards in the fields of Environmental Excellence and Sustainable Development; Good Corporate Governance; Corporate Social Responsibility and Responsiveness; Research & Development and Innovation, Best Practices in Human Resource Management and the Best Managed PSE set up under section 25. It is SCOPE's continuous endeavour to help public enterprises realize their true potential and remain in the forefront of India's economic march to higher and sustainable economic progress. The main objectives of these Awards are to recognize significant achievements of member enterprises in various fields leading to business excellence and competitive advantage; to encourage and motivate them; to achieve higher goals of excellence; and, to reward those enterprises which have demonstrated extraordinary skills and have made a mark in chosen fields which have been primarily responsible for growth turnover of the enterprise.
