Activities

Since liberization of India economy,there has been tremendous improvements in productivity and profitability of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). SCOPE is sure that given the operational autonomy, they can further improve their performance. SCOPE, therefore, gave boost to its activities and accelerated its efforts for further empowerment of CPSEs. SCOPE Chairman and Director General held many meetings with senior officials of the government, policy makers and others concerned in this regard. Meetings were followed by written communication particulary with
Cabinet Secretary, Central Vigilance Commissioner, Comptroller & Auditor General of India and Secretary, HI&PE. They were also apprised about the improving performance of CPSEs and need for operational autonomy in order to effectively meet global competition.

SCOPE's efforts have recieved positive response. The Central Vigilance Commission constituted a Committee under the Chairmanship of Shri Arvind Pande to review the working of vigilance adminstration in PSESs with a long term objective to strengthen vigilance system and their empowerment. The Committee has submitted its recommendations to the CVC. CAG organised interactive meetings of officials of CAG and cheif executives and finance directors of PSEs with the objective to share views on issues relating to audit and good governance of public enterprises.Similarly , Secretary, DPE also assured an early action of the recommendations of T.K.A. Nair's Committeee report set up to review the guidelines /instructions issued by DPE and to recommend cancellation, redrafting and/or simplification with the objective of eliminating ormodifying, those which are no longer necessary or relevant.
